I started my programming experience from BASIC (1), that now I don't remember so good. And the BASIC changed some, it stood more solid. The next programming language that I learned was PASCAL and it's extension OBJECT PASCAL. It's a good language, especially to start learning of programming languages. PASCAL also find its evolution in DELPHI. After that, indeed, it didn't stay better. It stood heavier and worse structured. It's a my personal opinion and it's possible that it based on superficial knowledge of the subject.
Next I studied an C and C++. First I bought two good books about C++ but I could not to investigate the language. I investigated C++ when I bought new book in programming on C - I investigated C too fast and C++ language was studied at once. And now the C++ is still my favorite programming language!
So I doubt whether I will scarcely wrote about anything except C and C++...
(1)As a matter of fact it's not true: actually I started not from the BASIC but from one interesting programming language as commands of programmable calculator Electronica MK-61. It is more interesting that I still have this small machine and it enjoys good health and sometime it can to compete with my new PC and I am sure that it will survived all of them. Sometime I will wrote and about this fine small machine that in one's time taught me the one good thing: economy in programming!
